This position accurately manages patient health information to ensure an up-to-date clinical record. This position proficiently performs duties as outlined below in one or more of the following areas: Filing, Patient Chart Management, Quality Control, Release of Information, and Transcription Support.
High School diploma required.
Six months’ experience in a health information management department or 1 years’ experience in an office setting, preferably healthcare related.Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, Joint Commission standards and other relevant healthcare documentation standards.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with team members.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be self-directed and able to work with little supervision while maintaining high levels of quality, production and customer service.
All of minimum requirements, plus:
Associates Degree in Health Information Technology,
Prior experience with electronic health records (Cerner PowerChart), scanning and release of information applications
Preferred credentials: RHIT
