Coding and Charge Capture has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director

Work Schedule

  • 100% Full Time

  • Monday - Friday

Reporting to the Faculty Practice Plan Services (FPPS) Director of Coding and Charge Capture (CCC), the Assistant Director will be expected to use independent judgment in the development, implementation and oversight of coding and charge capture operations. This includes but is not limited to reporting and analytics, coding systems management, risk assessment, improvement projects, records management, quality assurance programs, annual education plans. They will directly manage CCC managers, will be expected to juggle multiple responsibilities, have a high attention to detail, work effectively as part of a team, and be able to prioritize work. They will need to build relationships across multiple units and projects, serve as a source of expert advice and participate in department leadership decisions and activities.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding principles and guidelines.

  • Extensive knowledge of Epic and Optum EncoderPro

  • Manage the needs of the clinical departments and their physicians while simultaneously enhancing the FPPS culture of compliance and Operational Excellence.

  • Ensure that all coders are effectively, efficiently, and accurately conducting all aspects of coding for their assigned department.

  • Serve as leader and Assistant Director of coding and charge capture (CCC) operations by directing and facilitating processes in relation to coding

  • Plan, develop, implement, and integrate CCC internal processes and documentation

  • Manage projects and programs in coordination FPPS and UW Medicine to help ensure appropriate that areas of risk are proactively identified and addressed.

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with FPPS colleagues (Compliance, Physician Services, Patient Financial

  • Services, Technology integration and Integration Support, Project Management etc.) Clinical Departments, CUMG, and UW Medicine staff to ensure system-wide consistency in coding practices and identify and resolve shared issues and concerns. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in a related field.

  • CPC and/or CCS-P

  • 6 or more years working in a professional coding and charge capture unit.OR
