Behavioral Health Network Forensic Social Worker in Northampton, Massachusetts

NORTHAMPTON/REMOTE Forensic Social Worker - Hybrid Description Are you a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker experienced working with mental illness and substance abuse? The Forensic Social Worker\'s primarily role is to perform court ordered evaluations with mentally ill or substance using individuals in criminal and civil matters per MGL 123 - specifically, ?35, ?12a, and ?15e evaluations. This position is hybrid, with potential to work remote 2 or 3 days a week. Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Juvenile Court Clinic with the following: Provides evaluations to District and Superior Court - Performs court-ordered evaluations in criminal and civil matters per MGL Chapter 123 within the guidelines established by DFMH. Consults with judges, attorneys, probation officers, and community mental health and substance abuse treatment providers regarding mental health and substance abuse issues, and the disposition of mentally ill and substance abusing defendants and respondents. Completes reports in a timely manner to meet the court\'s needs. Provides testimony to the courts. Communicates with jail mental health staff as needed regarding defendants\' mental health and substance abuse concerns. Coordinates with crisis services when acute care is needed. Coordinates with community providers regarding referrals for services for forensic clients, as needed. Strives to provide high quality community-based care to all individuals. Documents for services in a manner that is compliant with all applicable rules/regulations. Arranges for placement of committed individuals. What are we looking for in a Forensic Court Social Worker? Master?s Degree in Social Work required. Independent licensure required. Must meet eligibility for Qualified Social Worker credential: work experience with mental illness and substance abuse Strong written and verbal communication skills. The salary range for this position is \$80,000 to \$84,000 per year based on number of years of experience and other factors. BHN\'s Juvenile Court Clinic program consists of a multi-disciplinary professional team. They are approachable, collaborative, cohesive, down to earth, knowledgeable, and supportive colleagues. All of the team members are highly motivated, independent, and demonstrate exceptional organizational and clinical skills. Services are provided for youth involved in both the Court and child welfare systems. The Juvenile Court Clinic facilitates a multi-disciplinary meeting with families, the Department of Children and Families, Department of Youth Services, and court personnel to promote the development of enhanced cross-system practices that enable achievement of improved youth and family outcomes. The program has obtained the trust and respect from the Courts in which they served. The staff is known for being responsive to the needs of partner agencies and allies in the legal system. Their dedication to the work grows out of a passion to support the learning and growth of adolescents and families who are court involved.
