Citigroup Vice President, Cobrand Product Management, Acquisitions in New York, New York

The American Airlines AAdvantage Co-Brand Product team sits within the U.S. Branded Cards North America business unit. With 35+ years of history, the Citi/AAdvantage cobranded credit program is one of industry’s largest travel loyalty credit card programs. The Citi Product Management team collaborates with American Airlines to design and market a suite of consumer and small business credit cards that use the airline’s loyalty program currency, travel assets, and marketing channels. The team is responsible for defining the strategy for most aspects of the card program, including product value propositions, loyalty marketing, above-the-line advertising, new account acquisition marketing, P&L management, and customer experience.

The Product Management team delivers a comprehensive acquisition strategy for the Citi/AAdvantage portfolio’s Consumer and Small Business products. It ensures the profitability of the portfolio by developing & executing a differentiated, customer-centric blend of BAU, LTO and test offer strategy, enhanced targeting through improved digital capabilities, and maximize Citi/AA reach and return from Sponsorship, Advertising and Media investments. The Product Management team upholds contractual commitments and develops Account Plan and Budget targets to scale portfolio with proper governance and planning practices.

Key responsibilities

The VP / Acquisition Growth & Profitability Manager role will be responsible for:

  • Offer Strategy Optimization: partner with Acquisition Marketing to ensure targeting, pricing, and offer strategies align with the overarching strategic vision and desired portfolio economics, including reducing reliance on Limited Time Offers. Optimize acquisition/conversion rates and the use of contra revenue to continue to improve cost to acquire.

  • Acquisition Channel Expansion: partner with American Airlines, Mastercard, internal Citi Businesses (to name a few) to continue to identify and help onboard incremental acquisition channel and/or placement opportunities to help further expand our distribution and expand our marketing reach.

  • Enhanced Targeting & Digital Capabilities: partner with Acquisition Marketing, Decision Management, MIM, and American Airlines to recommend additional data elements, identify tools/capabilities/partnerships, and/or refine existing modeling to improve targeting and reduce attrition. Continue to work with American to explore opportunities to expand / implement targeting improvements within partner channels.

  • Universe Expansion & Improved Prospecting: assist in the identification of opportunities to expand the marketable universe, including (as a few examples): prospecting opportunities both inside and outside of the AA Member File and use of additional 3rd party data sources (AA Small Business))

  • Brand/Advertising Strategic Alignment: partner with the Advertising team maximize brand/product awareness while ensuring the Above the Line marketing strategy is well positioned to support the broader product roadmap / vision

  • Marketing Performance Monitoring: partner with Acquisition Marketing and Decision Management to facilitate the necessary reporting/routines that ensure the product team maintains an understanding of acquisition performance trends and that tactics are driving the right product/portfolio dynamics.

Candidate Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant product management or marketing experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail

  • Influencing skills - ability to work across multiple teams and functions to align and deliver against the team’s business objectives

  • Experience leading and delivering in a highly matrixed organization without direct responsibility for resources (people, budget, etc.)

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess marketing KPI reporting

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment

  • Strong project management skills and experience prioritizing workloads to drive results with a sense of urgency

  • Experience building relationships and working with both internal & external partners, as well as strong influencing skills

  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn and grow professionally

  • Strong customer focus and someone who has demonstrated past achievements applying a customer mindset to shape strategies and action plans

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred but not required

  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills, with experience working with teams in multiple locations

$129,840.00 - $194,760.00
