Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a highly skilled and highly motivated Optometrist to join our comprehensive eye care team. Virginia Mason is a healthcare leader in Seattle and offers patients a comprehensive group practice eye care service available in five different locations. Optometrists at Virginia Mason are experts in providing primary vision care including comprehensive vision testing, diagnostics, emergency care, and disease management. Our Ophthalmologists are always available for consultation and referral. In fact, their primary referral source will be you!

Position highlights

This is a full-time position that is shared in two busy practices located minutes north of Seattle. You will be working closely with one Optometrist and two Ophthalmologists in providing care for a vast assortment of patient needs.

  • The Optometrist has a mature practice working part-time in the Lynnwood location.

  • The two Ophthalmologists have diverse and stimulating practices

  • The Ophthalmologist in Lynnwood has a general practice and a growing cataract practice. She handles a variety of medically complex patients.

  • The Ophthalmologist in Kirkland is a medical Ophthalmologist who specializes in dry eye and is sought after for her expertise and caring nature.

  • This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 4:30 with dedicated clinic days in both the Lynnwood and Kirkland locations.


  • Active Washington state optometry license required.

  • Graduate of accredited school of Optometry.

  • Current Basic Life Support certification.

  • Must have excellent computer skills. Familiarity with eye care software is preferred.

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new procedures, processes and policies.

  • Ability to thrive in a busy, hospital-based group practice.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexible with busy, urgent practice needs.

  • Minimum 3-5 years demonstrated success in patient centered group practice.

  • Residency training desirable.

Team Details

You will be joining a strong Virginia Mason team of eye care professionals which includes six Optometrists who are dedicated to learning and growing. Several of our team were recently named Top Doctors by Seattle Magazine. We have a team of 65 technicians and support staff across the organization who are highly skilled through continuous training options. You will also work alongside eight Ophthalmologists working in a wide range of subspecialties including retina, cornea, glaucoma, pediatric/adult strabismus, and dry eye.
