MOFFATT & NICHOL Civil Structural CAD Designer - Mid Level in Federal Way, Washington

We are actively looking for a Civil Structural CAD Designer to join our Seattle or Federal Way office. As part of the CAD Group, the Civil Structural CAD Designer Designs and drafts detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for use in planning, permitting and construction of civil/structural infrastructure projects that shape our coastlines, harbors & rivers as well as transportation projects associated with movement of freight. Six key areas of practice are: Ports & Harbors; coastal, environmental & water resources; urban waterfronts & marinas; transportation, bridges & rail; inspection & rehabilitation; & energy. Duties and responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Transform initial rough designs/sketches and redlines/mark-ups into finished graphics/construction documents. Interaction and coordination with all involved parties (engineering, sampling group, construction, clients, subcontractors, government agencies, etc.) Assist the CAD Manager with designs for site development & transportation projects Ability & willingness to travel as required Draft detail drawings of cargo/port/bulk terminals, breakwaters, marinas, wharfs, bulkhead walls, piers, bridges, sound walls, ferry terminals, hydraulic structures, structures (steel, concrete, timber & masonry) and shoreline construction (beaches, nourishment, revetments, dikes and jetties) Compute volumes calculations for dredging and upland site development projects Improve communications through documentation Review engineering drawings to ensure adherence to established CAD standards Perform 2D & 3D CADD modelling Provide mentoring and training to other CADD staff Perform design constructability reviews Play an active role in the CAD Standards/Standard Operating Procedures input Assist designers and senior technicians with preparation and review of engineering drawing packages Manage CADD personnel, schedule & distribute work and ensure time spent on projects is accountable Other duties: Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
