Providence St. Joseph Health Senior Coder - Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds, Washington

Description 100% REMOTE - Currently we can only hire remote workers out of the following states: AK, CA, MT, NM, OR, TX, WA SCHEDULE: 0.5 FTE; averaging 20 hours per week. DAY SHIFT. Monday & Tuesday, 8a-4:30p PST. Thursday, 10a-2p PST. NO WEEKENDS. Assign and sequence diagnostic and procedure codes for all service types in accordance with hospital approved and third party official coding guidelines. Abstract data and codes into the clinical database system in accordance with department procedures. Provide feedback to departments regarding appropriate documentation. Maintain knowledge of current regulations with regard to coding practices. Communicate with physicians, nursing, Patient Accounting and ancillary departments regarding documentation requirements. Participate in meetings related to maintaining appropriate coding, documentation and billing standards. Actively participate in ensuring compliance with coding and reporting requirements and receipt of entitled reimbursement. Participates in the Clinical Documentation Integrity Program. Required Qualifications: Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders Preferred Qualifications: Completion of an accredited health information management technician or administrator degree program or coding certification program 2 years experience coding ICD-9-CM and CPT in an acute care setting Why Join Providence?
