The Manager Oncology is responsible for the coordination of the daily clinical activities as it pertains to the First Hill and Ballard Medical Oncology programs as well as the Issaquah and Edmonds locations. The Manager acts as a liaison between the staff, physicians, and administration to improve and maintain safe, high quality patient care Providence caregivers are not simply valued - they're invaluable. Planning: Works with SCI administrative team, peers, staff and medical leadership to plan and implement concepts, which promote "Best Practice" across the Swedish Cancer Institute and SMC spectrum. Maintains staff meeting schedule. Works with staff to empower committee development and participation which supports departmental goals. Organizing: Utilizes personal skills to manage self and others to effectively achieve goals and meet timelines. Able to lead, mentor, and be an active role model to departmental staff. Staffing: Works within contractual and budgetary boundaries to effectively staff department while maintaining a culture of safety. Collaborates with administrative team and medical director to complete probationary and annual evaluations and develop expectations for staff in order to reach 'best practice.' Responsible with SCI administrative team for hiring. Oversees orientation of new employees. Performs as a staff nurse when necessary. Coordinating: Using leadership, creativity, positive attitude, and a high level of interpersonal skills, collaborates with Medical Oncology staff to improve quality and support clinical "Best Practice." Works with all employees of SCI and SMC departments to utilize resources effectively. Works collaboratively with physician leaders and clinical nurse specialists to develop methods for improving quality of care. Controlling: Manages KRONOS, staff overtime and dependability. Analyzes, modifies and implements new concepts to achieve improvement. Maintains functionality of equipment and is responsible for physical plant oversight. Works with SCI Administrative team regarding budgetary process and effectively utilizes resources to maintain lean fiscal practices. Directing: Responsible for leading, coaching, mentoring and modeling service excellence behaviors to staff. Demonstrates passion, skill, respect and a positive approach. Models service excellence and accountability to peers, and functions as a strong team player in caring for patients. Utilizes self-direction and multi-tasking skills to assess department needs and collaborate with other team members to achieve increased patient and staff satisfaction. Motivates staff to improve skills and embrace institutional goals. Quality Assurance: Designs, initiates, and participates in and reports quality improvement activities.
