About the Department

The University of Chicago Office of Research works with faculty and deans to support and enhance research and to support and oversee institutional research infrastructure including University Research Administration (URA), Research Development Support, the Office of Research Safety, Research Computing Center, Globus, the University of Chicago Consortium for Advanced Science and Engineering (CASE), and Schmidt Future Fellows.

Job Summary

The job manages academic, research, clinical or administrative programs.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the efforts of engagement in graduate programs. Working directly with the faculty and staff in charge of graduate programs, captures and delivers lessons learned about effective recruiting and retention strategies for increasing the diversity of the doctoral program.
  • The position will share with the department, in particular the faculty and staff in charge of graduate programs, lessons learned about effective recruiting and retention strategies for increasing the diversity of the doctoral program.
  • The position will share with the department effective strategies for launching a mentoring program.
  • The position will share with the department opportunities for diverse graduate students to engage in the programs developed for the LEAP Alliance.
  • Develops and leads department strategies for launching graduate mentoring program.
  • Provides specialized professional expertise in program management. Implements plans for educational programs and initiatives and acts as a liaison between the program and program participants.
  • Plans and develops program objectives and/or content. Researches and identifies trends and needs and establishes program directions accordingly.
  • Serves as a key resource for program information. Resolves problems or questions referred by program staff, University administrators, or other contingencies.
  • Develops and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Has a deep understanding when interacting with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Manages program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

  • PhD in computer science.
