Journey's End Refugee Services Social Worker in Buffalo, New York

Job Description:The Social Worker will report to the Director of Resettlement and work closely with direct service programs throughout the agency. The Social Worker will provide programmatic oversight and staff training and supervision for a team of case managers and program staff. The incumbent will be responsible for program compliance, reporting, and monitoring oversight, as well as ensuring staff understand all programmatic and case management requirements. The incumbent will employ social work ethics and best practices to help ensure services are utilizing and prioritizing human rights, racial justice, and trauma-informed principles.Primary Responsibilities:Provide expertise and regular one-on-on operational supervision to a select group of case managers and program staffResponsible for program compliance and case review, reporting, and monitoring oversight and completing corrective action plansAssess and address client health and safety issues on an individual basis as well as on a macro level, including systemic barriers to care. Share knowledge in a meaningful way across the agency; positively impact short-term and long-term service provision Identify key stakeholders and community partners and play active role in building and sustaining relationships Facilitate referrals to community resources, including planning, referrals, and follow-up for comprehensive careFacilitate cross departmental Case Manager meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination, as well as non-duplication of servicesCreate training plans and oversee onboarding and training oversight of new staffAssess staff training and professional development needs for new and existing staff to improve proficiencies, institutional knowledge, and core competenciesEnsure all individuals and families receive services that are culturally and linguistically appropriateIn conjunction with leadership team, identify staff training and professional development needs to improve case management servicesAssist agency staff in understanding trauma, client trauma, and vicarious trauma. Provide guidance around self-care and treatmentOther duties as assignedQualifications:Master of Social Work degree from an accredited university requiredAt least 3 years’ experience providing direct client services and case managementStrong written and verbal communication skills and acute attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft OfficeCompassionate personality and general interest in human service.Demonstrated ability to adapt to diverse and challenging scenarios involving clients, partners, staff, and service providersSelf-directed and able to work in a team environment.Experience working with diverse populationsFull-time Benefits include: * 10% employer retirement contribution* Health, vision, dental, & life insurance* Hybrid work schedule* Generous paid time off (up to 4 weeks within first year)* 12 paid holidays* $1,000 employer HSA contribution
